Episode VI - SUGAR WARS: Return of the Beta

Sugar Wars! Come outfitted in your favorite Star Wars attire as you run to help us find a Cure for Type I Diabetes. The blue circle that is part of our logo is the international symbol for diabetes awareness. Kid games will be available in the park before and after the races including: face painting, hair coloring and bean bag toss.

Race Day Schedule

6:15am to 7:15am - Check in/Day of Registration
7:15am - 10k, 5k & 1 mile walk Registration Cutoff
*7:30am - Start 10k, 5k & 1 mile walk     
8:45am - 1/2 mile kids race Registration Cutoff 
*9:00am - Start 1/2 mile kid race        
9:30am - Awards Ceremony & Prize Drawing

Each runner will receive a custom RunnerCard at the end of the race with name, time and place. Additionally, thanks to our generous sponsors we have many prizes to give away during the award ceremony, including:Prizes & Promotions

Please note that the Crazy 10k is designed for experienced runners and is a challenging course including over 400 ft of elevation increase in the first half of the race. Also, the 1 mile walk is a walking only event. If participants run during the 1 mile walk they will be disqualified from awards and prizes. Information booths and activities in the park will be available throughout the entire event. Please access Stuart Park from Dean Street in Inkom for parking.

Aid Stations

Water will be available at all aid stations as well as juice for diabetics with low blood sugar levels. Aid station supplies are available on a first come first serve basis. Powerade provided by Swire Coca-Cola will be available on the 10k route aid station.  5k runners will pass 3 aid stations, 10k runners will pass 6. *If you require additional supplies please arrange to have them available to you.

Awards & Age Divisions

Medals will be given to the top 3 overall male & female finishers of the 5k, 10k and kids race. Ribbons will be awarded 3 deep in each age division as follows:
     ~5K & 10k: 11 & Under, 12-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
     ~1 Mile walk: Open 1-39, Masters 40+
     ~Kids race: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12
The first overall male & female winners of the 10k will also receive a $50 cash prize presented by Connections Credit Union & the first overall male & female winners of the 5k will also receive a pair of sunglasses presented by RedStar Shades, and for current and future NCAA athletes the Crazy Pancreas 5k abides by NCAA prize rules.**

Timing Services

Timing for all 4 races will be provided by RunnerCard with a finish sign, chute and overhead clock displaying finish times. Each participant will also receive a printed  RunnerCard ready to be distributed at the end of the finish chute with time, splits, place, etc. to keep as a record of your race.

Packet Pick Up

Packet pick up and day of registration will be available the morning of the race at the pavilion in Stuart Park.  *Update: We will NOT have a registration table at the Independence Day Celebration at Inkom City Park as in years past.

Race Etiquette

-This is a family friendly event and running strollers are allowed.  However, please be courteous to other runners at the start line by moving to the back of the pack.  
-Unfortunately dogs are not allowed in this race. Though we love them they are too much of a liability for the safety of the other runners.  
-We ask that you please clean up any personal garbage/trash and not leave personal items along the course. We also ask that you respect the venues and the community that have been helpful in making this race possible.
-MP3 players and head phones are also allowed, but please use caution and be aware of your surroundings as none of the roads will be closed to traffic during the race.
**Must be present for awards and prizes: Since this is a charity event, we cannot afford to mail prizes or awards to those who are not there to accept them. If you see on your time card that you have placed in the top 3 in your age group or overall and are not able to stay for awards, please ask a volunteer if you can take your award early.
